We use Vac Aero furnaces with 6 bar quench to process tool steel and high speed steel.
In the past week, both furnaces have been unable to reach the starting vacuum or loose vacuum during heat treating.
I do have a leak detector and have been using it.Β Not finding any significant leaks when the furnace is cold.
I am looking for someone who can give us some hands on insight on what is going on.Β I have been overseeing these 2 furnaces for the past 7 years.

I was wondering if you could kindly provide some info regarding bright annealing of 304 StSt. We have vacuum furnaces here however I require to process these parts within a hydrogen atmosphere and then rapid quench. My question is should I use a full backfill of hydrogen or perform a partial pressure control? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if there are any tips or advice for securing a Viton gasket on a CF flange. One of our flanges would be opened frequently to access our samples but in trying to close it, so we cant use copper gaskets since they are not reusable. The Viton gaskets I bought on the other hand don’t have a definite form so they don’t stay in place. I was wondering if anyone can please suggest a way to install them so that the flange seals and the Viton gasket doesn’t come off each time we open the chamber. Or if there is any proper O-ring style gasket for knife-edge CF flanges. Thank you.
